Allied Waste Services - Service Changes

Allied Waste Services has announced two service changes for Redwood City residential customers starting the week of Feb. 5, 2001.

  1. Effective that week, residential customers' weekly garbage collection will become the same as their recycling day. Recycling service remains every other week. The change affects about 80% of Allied Waste Services customers in Redwood City as well as Atherton, Belmont, Burlingame, East Palo Alto, Foster City, Hillsborough, Menlo Park, North Fair Oaks, San Carlos, and San Mateo who have different recycling and garbage collection days.
  2. Residential customers starting in February will be able to choose the dates for their curbside clean-up. This new "On-call" clean-up program replaces the annual spring and fall clean-ups. Residential customers can schedule two curbside clean-ups annually by calling Allied Waste Services directly at (650) 592-2411.

Allied Waste Services will pick up bagged garbage in addition to a customer's can/cans during the week of Feb. 5-9 to ensure that customers receive the level of service they need during this transition period.

Under the new service schedule, garbage, recycling and yard waste will continue to be collected by three separate trucks and collection generally will occur at different times during the day.

For the on-call curbside clean-up collection program that replaces the spring and fall curbside clean-ups, customers can schedule their appointments by calling Allied Waste Services at 650-592-2411 or requesting the appointment through Allied Waste Services website at www.alliedwastesanmateocounty.com, starting in February.

The "on-call" curbside clean-up will be scheduled about two weeks after the request on a customer's recycling day. Those who make their appointments by phone will receive a confirmation postcard that reiterates the guidelines for the program. Those who make their appointment at Allied Waste Services website will receive an e-mail confirmation.

Complete details of the new service changes along with a jurisdiction by jurisdiction listing of recycling days is also posted at www.alliedwastesanmateocounty.com.
