Child Care Advisory Committee

The Child Care Advisory Committee was established in November, 1988 and consists of members representing child care and preschool program providers, the school district, and community organizations. Members serve without term limits or compensation on a volunteer basis.

The Committee promotes the availability of high quality child care and preschool facilities and services for those who live and work in Redwood City, consistent with the City's Child Care Policy (adopted in November of 1990). Some of the activities include:

  • Sponsoring public events during national Week of the Young Child in April;
  • Participating in outreach and public education efforts, including information tables at events;
  • Co-sponsoring training events for child care and preschool staff and/or parents;
  • Acting as liaisons to, or leaders of, community provider groups;
  • Providing input to the City Council or the Child Care Coordinator on City or community collaborative projects, related to child care, children and families.

The Child Care Advisory Committee meets on the fourth Thursday, every other month, at 7:00 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend.

Council Liaison: Mayor Barbara Pierce 368-6246
Staff Liaison: Kristen Anderson, Child Care Coordinator, 780-7336
